Courses Description
Credit Hours
Introduction to Propulsion
This course covers fundamental principles of mechanical and aeronautical engineering. It provides you with a deep understanding of all modes of aircraft and spacecraft propulsion.
6 Credits
Gas Dynamics
This course makes use of spreadsheet programs, and contains unique procedures that have never appeared before in any gas dynamics course. Key topics include basic equations of compressible flow, wave propagation in compressible media, isentropic flow of a perfect gas, stationary and moving normal shock waves, oblique shock waves etc.
6 Credits
Introduction to Aerodynamics
This course covers both fundamental principles and practical applications in a more student-friendly format. This course merges fundamental fluid mechanics, experimental techniques, and computational fluid dynamics techniques to build a solid foundation for students in aerodynamic applications from low-speed flight through hypersonic flight.
6 Credits
Aircraft Electric Systems
This course provides up-to-date information on the operating principles and applications of the systems and equipment used in aircraft for the generation, distribution and utilization of electrical power. The fundamental principles of electricity are reviewed, and systems and equipment used in a wide range of aircraft currently in service are dealt with.
6 Credits
Fundamentals of Flight
This course is a comprehensive introduction to aeronautics for both majors and non-majors, covering the basics of fluid mechanics (for aeronautics), the production of lift and drag, and the effects of viscosity and compressibility, among other topics.
6 Credits
Basics of Flight Mechanics
This course is an ideal introduction to the principles of flight. The course commences with a summary of the relevant aspects of mechanics, and goes on to cover topics such as air and airflow, aerofoils, thrust, level flight, gliding, landing, performance, manoeuvres and stability and control.
